The year 2006 (MMVI) was the twenty-fifth year of the A Real American Hero brand and the second year of Sigma 6.

Overview[]

The Sigma 6 toys and cartoons continued this year with evident success, now supplemented by "Mission Scale" 2.5" figures and vehicles. The strategy of Direct-to-Consumer exclusives proved unworkable due to insufficient sales, and the figures began showing up at Toys "Я" Us, along with a few more six-packs.

By spring, the now-traditional scale was on its previously announced hiatus, with the exception of fan-directed exclusives made available by the G.I. Joe Collector's Club and the convention, which was held late this year (Sept. 27-30). The line would then lie silent until the following summer.

Fortunately, fans began to warm to the Sigma 6 figures, which began to offer more familiar faces, including Cobra Commander and Destro. The division of the line into boxed (Commando) and carded (Soldier) assortments continued, and several larger sets came out this year. While Sigma 6 still hadn't been accepted as "the" G.I. Joe, it had its fans, and was growing in popularity.
