Bored one evening after leaving her class on heroism in history, she attended a G.I. Joe martial arts exhibition featuring Quick Kick. Amber volunteered to spar with Quick Kick and surprised him with her skills. The two began dating, despite their lack of other common interests. Suspicion arose as to her being a spy, so she infiltrated a Cobra base to prove her innocence. There she discovered that the true spy had been the Baroness, who had disguised herself as Lady Jaye. After being locked in the same cell as Gung Ho and the real Lady Jaye, she used what Quick Kick taught her to break them out, but not in time to stop Cobra Commander from vandalizing the lunar surface.
