Autobots - (Energon Universe)

The main cast of Autobots for Arc 1, drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson.

The Autobots are Cybertronians fighting for good in the Energon Universe Transformers comics from Skybound.

The main Autobot forces, led by Optimus Prime, came from Cybertron to Earth upon a ship known as the Ark to try to find a way to take back their home and find more sources of Energon after suffering tremendous losses, whilst some remained behind to continue the fight, led by Elita-1.

The Autobots are currently on the winning end of their war with the Decepticons.

Optimus Prime[]

Optimus Prime - Face - Skybound

Optimus Prime from the cover of the fourth printing of the first issue, drawn by Clayton Henry.

Optimus Prime is the legendary leader of the Autobot Resistance and the bearer of the Matrix of Leadership. A long time ago, he was a more ruthless warrior that was "full of anger and blind with vengeance", but nowadays, he is strong enough to be gentle whilst still fighting for the freedom of all sentient beings.

At some point during the early days of the war, the Autobots had an astronomical amount of numerical losses, leading to him making the tough call to lead some of them off-world in the Ark in the hopes of getting more Energon whilst leaving a few Autobots behind to continue the war back on Cybertron. Megatron and the strongest of the Decepticons followed them aboard the Nemesis.

Whilst they were in Earth's orbit, most of the Decepticons boarded the Ark. After Megatron boarded the Ark, dealt with Jazz, Cliffjumper and Wheeljack as well as killed Brawn, he engaged in a fight with Optimus. He quickly lost ground and Megatron punctured his right optic after mocking the Autobot leader, but not before Optimus could activate his Energon Axe and slice off the Fusion Cannon arm of the Decepticon leader. He was then kicked towards an exit, and Optimus last saw Earth before he went offline and the Ark crashed on the planet.

Millions of years later, Jetfire arrived on Earth and activated Teletraan-1 , giving Optimus his semi truck alt mode and restoring him to full strength, just in time to stop Starscream killing Jazz by clotheslining him and giving him a German suplex. After a quick run-in with Carly and Spike, he reunited with a reactivated Ratchet right before being fired upon by Starscream and Skywarp. Whilst the latter brought Soundwave to Teletraan-1 to be fixed up, he ordered his medic to load up his trailer with all the remaining Autobots on board for a tactical retreat. After Soundwave was restored and fired upon him before he got to his Ion Blaster, he found out that, before he woke up, Starscream killed Bumblebee by shooting him in the mouth. He briefly mourned his loss before Starscream, Soundwave and Ravage ganged up on him. Thanks to Carly and Spike pushing his Ion Blaster to him, he took Ravage out, pushed back Starscream and dodged Skywarp's stomp before making the difficult decision to shoot Teletraan-1 before it could restore Thundercracker and Reflector, preventing more Decepticons from being restored. Optimus and Ratchet transformed into their vehicle modes, with Optimus hauling his trailer with the remaining Autobots within and Carly and Spike in his cab. Starscream and Skywarp began to chase them down, but thanks to the efforts of the wounded Jetfire and Skywarp being low on Energon, they were able to escape and went to a quarry where the two Autobots bid farewell to Jetfire.

The Autobot leader found himself struck in awe at the natural beauty of Earth and how peaceful it was. He then accidentally stepped on a deer, killing it, and showed remorse, which Spike noticed. Optimus explained how he was so used to Cybertron and its terrain, and that he had no idea that he was so powerful on Earth. The two of them then began to talk about each other's lives, and even though Optimus didn't understand the concept of parents, he did understand the concept of family. Optimus told the boy how he got the 'Prime' name, the Ark, a bit about Cybertron's history and how, when he was young, peace lasted for a short while before the war began thanks to the Decepticons, with Spike remembering Starscream. Optimus explained that he was one of many Decepticons the Autobots have been fighting, with Optimus recounting the Autobot's exodus from Cybertron, the Decepticons storming the Ark, Megatron, their last battle and how he saw Earth right before entering its atmosphere. He even went on to thank Spike for helping him in the heat of battle and gently put the deer down from his hands to the ground after seeing Cliffjumper alive and well. After the red scout got awkwardly acquainted with the two humans, they went back to the quarry and Ratchet explained that Jetfire kept their Cybertronian technology intact when he gave them Earth-based alt modes, and thanks to the Autobot leader's tactical trailer and leftover metals, he was able to start repairing the other dormant Autobots, with Wheeljack being the next one he was trying to reactivate. Unfortunately, the trailer only carried enough Energon to fix Cliff and Optimus suggested using the Matrix to restore more of their comrades upon learning the risk of using what Energon was left in Cliff and Ratchet. Ratchet declined the bold offer, since that idea ran far more risks than the former. Soon afterwards, the Decepticons launched an attack at plant Sparky, Spike's dad, worked at. Optimus advised Spike to stay behind, but gave in to the boy's request, and the two left, but not before Optimus commanded Cliff to stay behind with Ratchet and Carly to safeguard the remaining Autobots.

Upon their arrival, the Autobot leader slammed into Skywarp, protecting the red scout (who followed Carly after she left to ensure her safety) and Carly (who was brought by Sparky to the veterans' bar). He told Spike to get to cover as he and Skywarp fought. Despite the Seeker effectively using his teleportation powers, Optimus won the fight by using the burning hammer move on him, and he offered the Decepticon a chance to surrender as he got out his Energon Axe. Then out of nowhere, Sparky and a friend of his fired a rocket launcher at his elbow, damaging it and deactivating his Energon Axe. Skywarp saw this as an opportunity and fired upon his damaged limb. Upon seeing Spike getting shot and seeing the Seeker about to flick him, the Autobot leader intervened and ripped off his damaged limb, using it to beat Skywarp into submission. After he let go of his arm, he carried Spike gently, remembering the deer he accidentally stepped on. He transformed into his truck mode, offering Sparky to join him, prioritising the young boy's health over their misunderstandings.

On their way to Farmingham Hospital, he contacted Ratchet to update him on the situation and to send backup. Starscream attacked them, only for Cliffjumper and Carly to arrive just in time and aid them, allowing him to run over the Seeker. Just as the Autobot leader safely gave Spike to the hospital staff when they arrived, Soundwave, Laserbeak, Rumble and Starscream arrived and opened fire. Frenzy got Cliff from behind and Soundwave managed to get the jump on him, pinning him down to the ground with a gun to his head. Starscream blasted away at the hospital to break Optimus' spirit, which gave Ratchet, hauling Optimus' trailer, and a freshly-restored Jazz enough time to come to their rescue and ward off the Decepticons. Upon learning that the damage the hospital took not only threatened Spike's life, but the lives of everyone else who needed life support to at least make it through the night, Optimus used the power of the Matrix of Leadership to power the hospital and its equipment, saving everyone and giving the medical staff the power they needed to save Spike. Upon a sick boy's request, he transformed in front of him despite his damaged state. Optimus told Sparky that the Matrix was drained of its energy and that it was up to the "Great Spark" when it came to Spike's fate now. The war veteran and the Autobot leader patched things up with one another, with the latter telling him that, although he was small, he was still mighty. When he went to check on Ratchet and Jazz, the medic told him that he managed to fix the hospital's generator despite the damage. When Optimus told him that he'll be fine, Ratchet reminded him that the Matrix drains him when it's used, lamenting the fact that he could've fixed himself or built a new arm. Optimus told him that he used it to save innocent lives, with Ratchet arguing that the humans are prone to anger and destruction, with Optimus noticing the similarity between themselves and the humans and possibly reminding the Autobot leader of how he used to be in the war's early days. Jazz began to enter stasis again due to the Energon in his body not being enough, even though it was gathered from every dormant Autobot. Optimus assured them that he did a good job and that he should rest now. After gently laying him down, Ratchet informed him that no Autobot could be fixed up until they could get some Energon, but that he had one thing that may help give them an advantage. Upon seeing what Ratchet was talking about inside his trailer, Optimus initially refused, but the medic eventually managed to convince him to take it. Sparky proceeded to provide even more hope as he said he had an idea on how to get the Autobots some Energon. As dawn rose, so did the Autobot leader as he stood before Cliffjumper and Carly, asking: "How do you feel about going on the offensive?". And as it turned out, the thing that Ratchet recommended was none other than the Fusion Cannon arm of Optimus' nemesis, Megatron, which replaced the Autobot leader's missing arm.

Sparky and Optimus reminisce on their experiences in their respective wars. Whilst Spike's dad confirms that his war only lasted for just one term, Optimus and the rest of the Autobots' war with the Decepticons is still going. He asks if Optimus knew why things are the way they are due to his experience, only for the Autobot leader to give a bleak response: "If only the light years I've traveled equaled the wisdom I've gained. But it is not so. I ask myself that question every day, Sparky. But then I see my reflection, and I see the very thing I'm fighting against." The next day, Sparky's solution for the Autobots' fuel problem was revealed: an Energon Turbine that Ratchet, Sparky and the half-restored Wheeljack made at Farmingham Dam. Upon its activation, Optimus told Wheeljack to prioritise the awakening of their allies, with Arcee in his arms. Right after she was awakened, the Decepticons launched an attack, with the Autobot leader commanding the defense of the turbine and for Ratchet to get more Autobots restored, with Sparky providing some aid to the Autobots. When Starscream dropped a freshly-restored Reflector above him. he used Megatron's Fusion Cannon, killing him in one fell swoop. He then slammed a freshly-restored Frenzy onto a rail, killing him too. He would watch Carly fall, only for Arcee to quickly catch her, and near the battle's end, Starscream mocked the Autobot leader's possession of the Fusion Cannon as taking something "precious" and using it for evil. Optimus proceeded to roast the Seeker, taunting him on how the weapon should make him scared, as he saw Megatron pointing it at the Seeker, proving that it'll serve as a "constant reminder" of what he'll never be. Optimus fired on him, only for Starscream to duck and fire at the Energon Turbine, severely damaging it. Optimus fired at the Seeker in retaliation, damaging him and causing the Decepticons to retreat. Seeing that their numbers were in their favour, the Autobot leader believed that they had a chance to reclaim the Ark. After he, Jazz, Cliff, Arcee and Ratchet transformed into their vehicle modes, Carly insisted on going with them and Sparky, but Optimus, after seeing her fall earlier, advised her to stay behind. The five Autobots and Sparky then left Farmingham Dam, leaving her and Wheeljack behind. As they made their final approach, he noted that Sparky seemed silent, and just as he was asking if he was ok, they got ambushed by the freshly awakened Constructions, with Long Haul ramming into the side of Optimus. Unbeknownst to them, Starscream had enough Energon to wake up all six Constructicons, and they, upon the Seeker's command, merged into Devastator, leaving Sparky and the Autobots to look up in terror.

Optimus grabbed Ratchet, who was missing his left leg due to Scavenger chopping it off, and ordered everyone to get to the Ark for cover. He managed to kick Starscream on the side of his head as they closed in on their ship, and covered Sparky from Thundercracker's shots as he blamed them for Skywarp's current condition. Unfortunately, this resulted in Devastator grabbing his left leg, and he proceeded to use him to accidentally smack Starscream away. He then dragged the Autobot leader against the Ark, severely damaging him before slamming into the ground, further damaging him just as Jazz, Arcee and Sparky fired at Devastator. She grabbed him and hauled him to the Ark as Ratchet crawled and Jazz provided covering fire. Optimus was forced to watch as Jazz closed the doors to prevent the Decepticons from entering, cutting off Ratchet's right leg. He was then laid on a table, with the Autobot medic lamenting not only the fact that he couldn't do much with no legs, but that Optimus' wounds were fatal. As the Autobot leader began to succumb to his injuries, he apologised for leading them far from Cybertron to find another way to save their home and win the war, believing that Jetfire was right, with Devastator bashing the mountain the Ark whilst this was happening. Not even Arcee's words could convince him that there was a way to win the current battle. He took the Matrix of Leadership out of his chest as his gears continued to slow down, accidentally dropping it as he begged one of his friends to take it. He saw Sparky enter the Matrix, but not before he told Optimus to tell his son that he's proud of him. His sacrifice recharged the artifact, and all that energy was quickly used up in self-repairs, returning the Autobot leader to full strength. He reinserted the Matrix into his chest, vowing to Sparky that he'll protect his son and all of Earth. Just then, the Decepticons broke into the Ark. Optimus grabbed Devastator's right ring finger and fired on him using both his Ion Blaster and Megatron's Fusion Cannon simultaneously. He rushed up to the combiner and gave him a missile dropkick to his face. He fired at Devastator in his truck mode using the Fusion Cannon, leading him to the top of the mountain, taunting him and transforming to once again fire on him. The Autobot leader goaded him to come closer, dropping his Ion Blaster and tossing him over the edge, forcing the Constructicons to separate and retreat with Starscream as they landed on him, damaging him. Optimus told Soundwave (with Ravage in his hands) to wait, asking him to put an end to their conflict and find a way to save their home together. He tried to punch him, but the Autobot leader blocked it, assuring him that, even though he desired peace, he wasn't a fool. He then watched Thundercracker swoop by, picking Soundwave up, with Optimus knowing that this wouldn't be the end.

Some time after the battle, Spike woke up, and he and Ratchet went to visit him and tell him of his father's sacrifice. Upon seeing the boy not respond to him, Optimus got concerned, but he told him that he doesn't blame him and needs time to process the news. The Autobot's leader and medic left the hospital, with the former blaming himself for what happened to Sparky, despite Ratchet insisting that it wasn't his fault. Suddenly, just as Optimus was saying that he must make it up to Spike somehow, he had a vision of himself holding the boy when he was a baby. This distracted him so much that he drove off the road, transforming as he skidded against the rocky terrain. When his friend asked him what happened, all Optimus could say was that he didn't know. Upon Ratchet's recommendation, they continued their way home, and arrived just in time to hear Wheeljack say that he could still fix the rest of their comrades and himself using alternative methods since Skywarp was preventing them from using Teletraan-1's repair systems. Optimus told him to pick up the pace, as whilst they finally had the upper hand, it would only be for a brief time as the Decepticons were still out there. The Autobot scientist suggested a means of aerial transport so they could traverse the planet to protect it, with the Autobot leader saying that he had a plan for that, showing him the body of Jetfire in a nearby room, hoping to revive him.

Optimus Prime transforms into a Semi Truck with a trailer. After he ripped off his right arm, the right side of his truck mode could be seen as heavily damaged with the smokestack missing. Upon gaining Megatron's Fusion Cannon arm, the arm itself made up a sizable amount of the right side of the truck mode, with the Fusion Cannon acting as an oversized smokestack.

Cliffjumper[]

Cliffjumper is an Autobot scout stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, Megatron slammed him against a wall. He was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

Cliffjumper - Face - Skybound

Cliffjumper from the third variant cover of the second printing of the second issue, drawn by Jason Howard.

After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, Ratchet had enough Energon within Optimus' trailer to fix him in the quarry they were hiding out in and filled him in on everything of what's been happening. He awkwardly got acquainted with Carly and Spike after reuniting with Optimus. He and the other two Autobots realised that they didn't have enough Energon to wake up everyone else, and the red scout hoped that the Decepticons were having the same problem. Soon afterwards, the Decepticons were spotted launching an attack at plant Sparky, Spike's dad, worked at. Optimus advised Spike to stay behind, but gave in to the boy's request, and the two left, but not before Optimus commanded Cliff to stay behind with Ratchet and Carly to safeguard the remaining Autobots. Upon seeing Carly leave in her van heading home, he followed her to keep her safe.

This was a good decision, as he managed to save her and Sparky from Laserbeak by swiftly kicking him on the head, only for the war veteran to fire at him thinking that he was a threat, blasting through the side of the house. He followed the two humans to the veterans' bar and tried to explain that he was one of the good guys, only to get fired upon again. To make matters worse, Skywarp landed at the bar, punched the red scout in the face and began taking the men out. Just as the Seeker approached Cliff to finish him off, Carly stepped in front to defend him, with Skywarp laughing at the "cool" gesture before getting ready to shoot her. Just in the nick of time, Optimus slammed into Skywarp, protecting the red scout and Carly. They were forced to watch as Skywarp and Optimus fought, with Spike getting shot and the Autobot leader being forced to rip off his right arm after Sparky and Skywarp damaged it, using it to beat the Seeker into submission. After the battle, Cliffjumper and Carly left the bar before Starscream arrived.

When Optimus and Sparky were on their way to Farmingham Hospital to save Spike, they were ambushed by Starscream. When the red scout asked Carly if she wanted out, she told him to "get his ass", and so they knocked the Seeker off his feet, allowing Optimus to run over Starscream. Just as the Autobot leader safely gave Spike to the hospital staff when they arrived, Soundwave, Laserbeak, Rumble and Starscream arrived and opened fire. Frenzy got Cliff from behind and Soundwave managed to get the jump on Optimus, pinning him down to the ground with a gun to his head. Starscream blasted away at the hospital to break Optimus' spirit, which gave Ratchet, hauling Optimus' trailer, and a freshly-restored Jazz enough time to come to their rescue and ward off the Decepticons, with Cliff ecstatic to see his fellow friend woken up. He was with Optimus, Ratchet and Jazz when they discovered the the extent of the damage taken by the hospital, watching the Autobot leader use the power of the Matrix to power the hospital and save human lives.

Cliffjumper transforms into a red Porsche 924.

Appearances[]

Jetfire[]

Jetfire is a Cybertronian scientist like his former best friend Ulchtar/Starscream who left Cybertron to find a way to save it from an unknown disease.

Jetfire - Face - Skybound

Jetfire from the first issue of Void Rivals, drawn by Lorenzo De Felici.

Darak and Solila found and revived a long dormant Jetfire, who quickly left the two and stumbled upon his fellow dormant Cybertronians in the crashed Ark on Earth after trying to find his way to Cybertron.

He triggered an earthquake to reveal the Ark's location and reactivated Teletraan-1 to restore everyone to full strength and gift them with Earth-based alt modes, lamenting the fact that he lacked the Energon to bring them home. He reactivated his old friend Ulchtar, now named Starscream first, only to learn how far his friend had fallen when the Seeker shot Bumblebee dead. Jetfire attempted to reason with him, only to learn of the war that started after his departure. When he tried to stop Starscream, he got fatally shot. Upon the reactivated Optimus and Ratchet's abandonment of the Ark after Teletraan-1's destruction and Starscream and Skywarp chasing after the two Autobots,he pushed through the pain and transformed into his jet mode to try to help. Starscream shot him down, leading him to transform and land in a quarry, where he mourned his seemingly-futile efforts to save Cybertron and lamented his naivety to the changes that occurred. After the Autobot medic stopped Optimus from using the Matrix to heal Jetfire, the scientist died in the arms of the Autobot leader, lamenting that Cybertron and everything he sought to save will perish.

After more Autobots were awakened and they retook the Ark, even with Devastator and Thundercracker awakened to aid the Decepticons, the Autobots finally had the upper hand, but for a brief time. Optimus decided to try and revive Jetfire with Ratchet's assistance and what little resources and Energon they had at their disposal as a means of traversing the planet to protect it. They were ultimately successful as a small portion of his spark remained. However, Jetfire was not only locked in his jet mode, but he was also unable to see and move under his own volition. He awoke, and was horrified to find out what happened with him. He worriedly asked the Autobot leader and Ratchet how and why he was revived, and Optimus explained that the Autobots are running out of what little Energon is left and explained the tactical advantage his alt mode brought. Jetfire fears that all he'll be seen as is a husk, a tool that could be disposed of. Optimus initially was about to leave him alone, but stays and sits with him for a while per his request.

Once the Decepticons uncovered the Nemesis and revealed their position, Optimus, Jazz and Ratchet boarded a storage compartment attached to Jetfire's underside, with Cliffjumper piloting him and promising to take good care of him. Unfortunately, Shockwave and Soundwave activated a Space Bridge that launched a beam that clipped Jetfire's left wing, resulting in the Autobots crashing down in the Pacific Ocean.

Jazz[]

Jazz - Transformers 04 - Skybound

Jazz from the the fourth issue, drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson.

Jazz is one of many Autobot warriors stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, Megatron elbowed him. He was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

A newly awakened Starscream would've killed him off in his dormant state had Optimus not quickly intervened upon his reactivation. After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, the two of them hid out in a quarry, laying the dormant Autobots around to give Optimus' tactical trailer enough space to start fixing them up. After a while, Jazz was revived in a rush as Ratchet received a call from Optimus needing backup, being fueled up by all the remaining Energon within the rest of the dormant Autobots. He and the Autobot medic arrived with Optimus' trailer at Farmingham Hospital just as Optimus and Cliffjumper were about to get finished by Starscream, Soundwave, Laserbeak and Rumble, coming to their rescue and warding off the Decepticons, with Cliff ecstatic to see his fellow friend woken up. He was with Optimus, Ratchet and Cliff when they discovered the the extent of the damage taken by the hospital, watching the Autobot leader use the power of the Matrix to power the hospital and save human lives. He was with the Autobot medic when Optimus came to check on the status of the hospital's generator and watched Optimus and Ratchet argue about helping the human race and themselves. Unfortunately, he would enter stasis again after the Energon in his body ran out, but not before the Autobot leader assured him that he did a good job in the brief time he had online.

He would be woken up again thanks to the Energon Turbine that Ratchet, Sparky and the half-restored Wheeljack made at Farmingham Dam and was delivered to it by Ratchet and a freshly awakened Arcee after the Decepticons launched an attack. He was reactivated just in time to stop Rumble getting the drop on Cliffjumper from behind twice, shooting off the Recordicon's right arm and right pile driver. After the battle ended with the Decepticons being driven back and the turbine destroyed, he supported Optimus' idea to reclaim the Ark whilst they still could. Unfortunately, Starscream had enough Energon to wake up all six Constructicons, with Scrapper getting the jump on him and Arcee during their ambush, and they, upon the Seeker's command, merged into Devastator, leaving Sparky and the Autobots to look up in terror.

When Optimus ordered everyone to get to the Ark for cover, Jazz struggled to avoid the combiner. He helped bring Ratchet into the Ark as Optimus was occupied. Unfortunately, Devastator severely damaged him before slamming into the ground. Upon Arcee's command, Jazz, herself and Sparky fired at Devastator. She grabbed the Autobot leader and hauled him to the Ark as Ratchet crawled and Jazz provided covering fire. After Devastator grabbed Ratchet's right leg, he closed the doors to prevent the Decepticons from entering under Ratchet's request, cutting off his right leg. After Optimus was laid on a table Jazz believed that he was on his "final encore", with the Autobot medic lamenting not only the fact that he couldn't do much with no legs, but that Optimus' wounds were fatal. As the Autobot leader began to succumb to his injuries, he apologised for leading them far from Cybertron to find another way to save their home and win the war, believing that Jetfire was right, with Devastator bashing the mountain the Ark whilst this was happening. Not even Arcee's words could convince the Autobot leader that there was a way to win the current battle. He took the Matrix of Leadership out of his chest as his gears continued to slow down, accidentally dropping it as he begged one of his friends to take it. Jazz saw Sparky enter the Matrix, which recharged the artifact, and all that energy was quickly used up in self-repairs, returning the Autobot leader to full strength. Just then, the Decepticons broke into the Ark, with Soundwave confronting Jazz and Arcee dealing with Thundercracker. After Optimus dealt with Devastator and tossed him over the edge of the mountain, the Constructicons were forced to separate and retreat with Starscream as they landed on him, damaging him with Arcee and Jazz being able to ward off Soundwave and Thundercracker, allowing the Autobots to reclaim the Ark.

Jazz transforms into a Martini Porsche 935 turbo racing car.

Wheeljack[]

Wheeljack - Face - Skybound

Wheeljack from the cover of the fourth issue, drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson.

Wheeljack is an Autobot scientist stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, Megatron handed him a powerful upper cut. He was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, the Autobot medic attempted to get him fixed up so that he can secure them a source of Energon using leftover metals from a quarry and Optimus' tactical trailer. Unfortunately, virtually all the Energon in the trailer was used to reactivate Cliffjumper, with the Autobot medic prioritising Wheeljack's physical restoration until he had enough Energon to wake him up. When Optimus called for reinforcements, his restoration was halted, with Ratchet quickly fixing up Jazz using all the Energon left within the other dormant Autobots. Ratchet pulled together what resources he had left and managed to awaken his friend, albeit, with only his upper half working until he could be properly fixed. He was temporarily attached to a mechanical pedestal connected to a Energon Turbine at Farmingham's dam, which he worked on with Sparky and Ratchet in order to give the Autobots the means to reawaken more of their friends, using leftover metals from the quarry. Their efforts paid off, allowing Jazz to be refueled and Arcee to be awakened, only for Starscream to destroy the turbine when they attacked, preventing more of their allies from waking up. He would be left behind whilst the rest of the Autobots went to reclaim the Ark since he couldn't move and presumably began working to rebuild the Energon Turbine.

After the Autobots reclaimed the Ark, he was attached to treads as a means of travelling around, with him actively attempting to access Teletraan-1's repair systems. He unintentionally awakened the remainder of Skywarp's neural cortex, preventing the Autobots from using Teletraan-1 to fix the rest of the Autobots, with him having to manually fix Ratchet's legs. When Arcee asked why he hadn't fixed the others or even himself, he explained as such, and that he could still fix them up, but that it'll be a while until they could find a way around it, turning off Skywarp as he continued to taunt him.

They were ultimately successful as a small portion of Jetfire's spark remained. However, he was not only locked in his jet mode, but he was also unable to see and move under his own volition. What he had no success in however were his continued attempts to access Teletraan-1's repair systems, as Skywarp persisted in blocking him off. Optimus heard this and went to ask the scientist what was going on. When the Autobot leader asked if they could separate Skywarp from Teletraan-1, he revealed that they were hardwired together, meaning that, if the former was removed, the latter would cease to function until they could get their hands on more Cybertronian tech, and he also guessed that this was probably a failsafe that Soundwave implemented before the Autobots reclaimed the Ark. Wheeljack began to show his frustration, only for Optimus to remind him that the Seeker was acting with what little agency he had left, and he asked to see if any footage of what happened was recorded. Upon the Autobot scientist finding and playing the footage, Optimus reminded him that, even though he was an enemy, he was broken, a similarity which they shared. When Carly insisted that Skywarp was better dead with a missile launcher in her possession, Optimus tried to convince her otherwise. Just as she was about to put it down, she accidentally fired the launcher, with Wheeljack narrowly managing to dodge the missile. Even though Arcee was damaged when she saved Skywarp, it wasn't all to their detriment. The Seeker, thankful to have been saved, allowed Teletraan-1's repair system to be accessed for a brief while, using that time to restore Wheeljack's legs.

Wheeljack transforms into a Lancia Stratos Turbo 5 race car.

Ratchet[]

Ratchet - Face - Skybound

Ratchet from the the first issue, drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson.

Ratchet is the chief Autobot medic who's stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime, one of his closest friends.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, he confronted Reflector. He was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

He was reactivated by Teletraan-1 and gained his ambulance alt mode, and hastily kicked the awakened Starscream in the side of his head, saving his leader. Upon realising that they'll lose if they stay any longer, Optimus commanded him to load the other dormant Autobots on board the Ark into his trailer. He quickly managed to do just that, and the two escaped with Spike and Carly in tow, but not before Optimus fired upon Teletraan-1 to prevent the Decepticons from waking up more of their comrades.

After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, Ratchet had enough Energon within Optimus' trailer to fix Cliffjumper in the quarry they were hiding out in and filled him in on everything of what's been happening. After Cliff, Optimus and the two humans returned, Ratchet explained that Jetfire kept their Cybertronian technology intact when he gave them Earth-based alt modes, and thanks to the Autobot leader's tactical trailer and leftover metals, he was able to start repairing the other dormant Autobots, with Wheeljack being the next one he was trying to reactivate. Unfortunately, the trailer only carried enough Energon to fix Cliff and Optimus suggested using the Matrix to restore more of their comrades upon learning the risk of using what Energon was left in Cliff and the Autobot medic. Upon seeing Carly leave in her van heading home, Cliffjumper followed her to keep her safe, leaving the Autobot medic on his own as he headed back to the quarry to continue his efforts to restore Wheeljack and the other Autobots.

After dealing with Skywarp and losing his right arm, Optimus contacted Ratchet to update him on the situation and to send backup as he and Sparky were headed to Farmingham Hospital to save Spike. Ratchet bemoans that his friend will have to wait, and got Jazz's body, reviving him in a rush by fueling him by all the remaining Energon gathered from the rest of the dormant Autobots. Whilst Starscream was blasting at the hospital to break Optimus' spirit, the Autobot medic, hauling Optimus' trailer, and a freshly-restored Jazz arrived just time to come to rescue Optimus and Cliffjumper and ward off the Decepticons. He was with Optimus, Jazz and Cliff when they discovered the the extent of the damage taken by the hospital, watching the Autobot leader use the power of the Matrix to power the hospital and save human lives, despite trying to advise him from doing that. When the Autobot leader went to check on Ratchet and Jazz, the medic told him that he managed to fix the hospital's generator despite the damage. When Optimus told him that he'll be fine, the Autobot medic reminded him that the Matrix drains him when it's used, lamenting the fact that he could've fixed himself or built a new arm. Optimus told him that he used it to save innocent lives, with Ratchet arguing that the humans are prone to anger and destruction, with Optimus noticing the similarity between themselves and the humans. Jazz began to enter stasis again due to the Energon in his body not being enough. Optimus assured them that he did a good job in the brief time he had online. After gently laying him down, the Autobot medic informed him that no Autobot could be fixed up until they could get some Energon, but that he had one thing that may help give them an advantage.

Beachcomber is an Autobot warrior stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, Skywarp threw him through a hole in the Ark and into space. Miraculously, he managed to land on the moon, and, stunned by Earth's beauty, sat down and admired the Earth for million of years. In 1969, the Apollo 11 moon mission occurred, and on its return journey, he hitched a ride to Earth. He landed on a beach, where an pink octopus attached itself onto his right arm, which he didn't mind. Upon seeing the natural beauty around him, he realised that the planet was as beautiful as he imagined it. Upon the octopus coming off, he got a signal which showed the Ark's location. Upon arriving, he saw that everyone on the Ark, both his fellow Autobots and Decepticons, were in stasis, he went to Teletraan-1, ready to activate its repair systems and reactivate his comrades. However, he decided against it, fearing that, even with the Autobot's good intentions, not only were they no meant for Earth, but the planet itself would get devastated should they get reactivated and begin the war again, so he made the decision to leave them all to sleep forever in peace, but not before taking some of the Ark's Energon for himself should he need it.

Beachcomber transforms into a Dune Buggy.

Arcee[]

Arcee - Face - Skybound

Arcee from the Stadium Comics exclusive cover of the first issue, drawn by Santa Fung.

Arcee is an Autobot warrior stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

When the war had begun, she lost all of her clan. Ultra Magnus came and rescued her, making her his Iron Apprentice. At some point, a battle occurred where her Iron Intercessor was believed dead, hating herself for his supposed death, going on a path of hate and anger that she did her best to give up over time.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, she boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, she participated in the ensuing battle. She was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, the two of them hid out in a quarry, laying the dormant Autobots around to give Optimus' tactical trailer enough space to start fixing them up. Ratchet quickly fixed up Jazz when Optimus needed reinforcements using all the Energon left within the dormant Autobots, including her.

She would be woken up thanks to the Energon Turbine that Ratchet, Sparky and the half-restored Wheeljack made at Farmingham Dam and was delivered to it by Optimus right before the Decepticons launched an attack, saving the Autobot medic. She would help him deliver Jazz to the Energon Turbine to be reactivated and rescued Carly from her fall by transforming into her alt-mode and catching her in the driver's seat. After the battle ended with the Decepticons being driven back and the turbine destroyed, she supported Optimus' idea to reclaim the Ark whilst they still could. Unfortunately, Starscream had enough Energon to wake up all six Constructicons, with Scrapper getting the jump on her and Jazz during their ambush, and they, upon the Seeker's command, merged into Devastator, leaving Sparky and the Autobots to look up in terror.

When Optimus ordered everyone to get to the Ark for cover, she struggled to avoid the combiner. He helped bring Ratchet into the Ark as Optimus was occupied. Unfortunately, Devastator severely damaged him before slamming into the ground. Upon her command, Jazz, herself and Sparky fired at Devastator. Not even her words could convince the Autobot leader that there was a way to win the current battle. He took the Matrix of Leadership out of his chest as his gears continued to slow down, accidentally dropping it as he begged one of his friends to take it. Arcee saw Sparky enter the Matrix, which recharged the artifact, and all that energy was quickly used up in self-repairs, returning the Autobot leader to full strength. Just then, the Decepticons broke into the Ark, with Soundwave confronting Jazz and her dealing with Thundercracker.

Arcee transforms into a Lamborghini Revuelto.

Elita One[]

Elita One - Face - Skybound

Elita-1 from the eighth issue, drawn by Jorge Corona.

Elita One serves the role of Autobot leader on Cybertron in Optimus' absence.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, she remained behind to continue the Autobots' efforts on their home planet, possibly managing the entirety of the remaining Autobot forces left behind on Cybertron.

She led a squad consisting of herself, Warpath, Kup and Huffer to Shockwave's fortress in an attempt to rescue fellow Autobot Ultra Magnus. They rush to their destination when they're suddenly ambushed by the Combaticons. Huffer, Warpath and Kup got killed as they made their final push, leaving her as the sole survivor. Upon entering the fortress, she finds the captive Autobot, only to find out that he had been tortured and reduced to his endoskeleton.

As she struggled to find a way out, Ultra Magnus begged her to kill him and put him out of his misery. She apologised that it took so long to find him, but promised him that she would kill herself and him in the event that they get captured.

The Combaticons eventually found them and began to fire on them, leading to her trying to get them somewhere safe. Ultra Magnus expressed that he was grateful that the end had come, just as Vortex snuck up from behind, only for her to blast at him. After giving her fellow Autobot some motivation, they eventually found the Space Bridge the Decepticon scientist used to travel to Earth, and Elita and Ultra Magnus used it to escape the Combaticons. After saving Optimus from Shockwave and Elita shooting the Space Bridge, which cut Brawl at his torso and preventing the whole team being on Earth, she loaded Ultra Magnus on Optimus' truck bed as the three of them made their escape, leaving behind Jazz, Cliffjumper, Jetfire and Ratchet's body. The trio eventually came upon Wheeljack and Arcee at Farmingham Dam's Energon Turbine, with the latter finally reuniting with her Iron Intercessor and the former not recognising him due to the extensive damage he took. Sometime later, Elita-1 told Optimus that Jazz and Cliffjumper will suffer the same fate as Ultra Magnus unless they rescued them. She reminded him of the stakes and losses she endured just to rescue Magnus, telling the Autobot leader that they could've used him when the Decepticons took control of Cybertron and kidnapped Magnus, lamenting that Optimus and his band of Autobots had left on the Ark by that time. When Optimus tried to explain his point of view, Elita informed him that there was no Energon and that their people were starving and enslaved, all whilst facing the Decepticons' regime and reminding him that, with Shockwave now seeing Earth, he'll take the planet's resources, ruining the "paradise" Optimus had found, to fuel the Decepticons. Optimus would go on to ask her for her help, to which she must reluctantly agreed to.

When they went back to the Ark, Wheeljack began to fix Ultra Magnus. When he was almost fully restored, Arcee talked to him, admitting that she would've stayed behind on Cybertron if she knew that he was alive. Elita-1 told her that she abandoned the cause, only for her to get punched in the face, causing her to leave. Later on, she informed Wheeljack that the second connection point of the Spacebridge was in Shockwave's fortress, where the Energon his Harvester was collecting was being stored, with the scientist concluding that he now must have enough Energon to take over Cybertron completely. Elita told him and Optimus that the lack of Energon was why the Autobot Resistance on Cybertron had survived so long. Upon Carly reminding them to rescue Jazz and Cliff, she reminded him that it wouldn't be easy. When Optimus said that they must rescue their warriors, she angrily recounted their fellow Autobots being ground to death by Decepticons when Optimus left the war he helped begin, recalling her time in the trenches, her losses and how desperate they were to win and survive. Optimus calmly told her that Earth needed saving too, only for her to persist in reminding him of their friends fighting to the death. The Autobot leader told her that he believed in their capabilities and their old friends. Upon seeing Arcee sink into her anger again after seeing what they did to Ultra Magnus, she told her that it was good to see that fire still within her, believing that warriors with a similar sentiment are what they needed to win the war. Upon seeing Optimus on his own, she asked him what he was doing, and he said he was thinking of an Autobot now gone: Ratchet. After she told him to "add him to the pile of the dead", he informed her that the Autobot medic believed he was too concerned with Earth, with the Autobot leader saying that the human race needed the Autobot resistance as he brought the Cybertronian Civil War to their planet. When Elita-1 reminded him of their own problems, Optimus said that, nevertheless, they might need human assistance to win the war, and when she asked if they're going to rush to the Nemesis despite knowing that the Decepticons would be ready and their losses would escalate if they do so, the Autobot leader said that they wouldn't do that. He went on to ask which Autobot has teleportation abilities, and hearing her respond that none of them do, his plan was revealed: using Skywarp's teleportation abilities to get to the Nemesis. Upon hearing Wheeljack say that the coordinates were locked in and that the Seeker was able and willing to help them, she received some of the charges he built for Optimus.

Appearances[]

Ultra Magnus[]

Ultra Magnus - Energon Universe - Transformers 07 Skybound

Ultra Magnus from Arcee's flashback in the seventh issue, drawn by Jorge Corona.

Ultra Magnus was a key figure among the Autobots who remained on Cybertron to continue the fight and the mentor/Iron Intercessor to Arcee.

After Arcee's clan was eliminated, he took her under his wing and taught her how to fight. At some point, a battle occurred where he and her got separated, with the latter believing that he died. However, he was captured and taken to Shockwave's fortress, where the Decepticon scientist took his time and slowly reduced the Autobot down to his endoskeleton over a very long period of time. It's possible that he was still a prisoner when Optimus and his band of Autobots left aboard the Ark.

Elita-1 managed to rescue him, at the cost of losing several Autobots like Huffer, Kup and Warpath. Shockwave had broken his mental state, with him begging Elita to kill him to put him out of his misery. Elita promised to kill him should they get captured, and vowed to get him to safety, apologising that it took so long to get to him. The Combaticons ambushed them, with Elita defending him with everything she had.

The two Autobots eventually found the Space Bridge the Decepticon scientist used to travel to Earth, and Elita and Ultra Magnus used it to escape the Combaticons. After saving Optimus from Shockwave and Elita shooting the Space Bridge, she loaded him on Optimus' truck bed as the three of them made their escape, leaving behind Jazz, Cliffjumper, Jetfire and Ratchet's body. The trio eventually came upon Wheeljack and Arcee at Farmingham Dam's Energon Turbine, with the latter finally reuniting with her Iron Intercessor and the former not recognising him due to the extensive damage he took.

When they went back to the Ark, Wheeljack began to fix him up. When he was almost fully restored, Arcee talked to him, admitting that she would've stayed behind on Cybertron if she knew that he was alive. He was forced to watch Arcee punch in the face Elita-1 after she told her that she abandoned the cause. Right after that, he struggled onto his feet to persuade Optimus to fully fix him up after the Autobot leader was informed by the Autobot scientist that, without Ratchet, fully fixing him up will severely drain them of Energon that they can use to wake up more of their comrades. Wheeljack told Optimus that his opticals would allow him and Ultra Magnus to be notified of when to back them up to complete their rescue of Jazz and Cliffjumper from the Decepticons and the Nemesis. Upon his full restoration, he and the Autobot scientist, thanks to Skywarp's cooperation and teleportation, went to the Nemesis as soon as they saw the Constructions combine into Devastator. However, upon seeing the sadistic scientist who skinned him alive, Ultra Magnus transformed and ran away, apologising for his surprising action.

Beachcomber, Arcee, Spike and Carly are looking for him now.

Trailbreaker is an Autobot warrior stranded on Earth under the command of Optimus Prime.

After the Autobots' numbers had really dwindled, he boarded the Ark alongside Optimus and many others to find a way to take back their home. When the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis stormed the Ark, he participated in the ensuing battle. He was knocked offline before the Ark crash landed.

After Ratchet and Optimus were forced to abandon the Ark and load Optimus' trailer with all the Autobots on board, the two of them hid out in a quarry, laying the dormant Autobots around to give Optimus' tactical trailer enough space to start fixing them up. Ratchet quickly fixed up Jazz when Optimus needed reinforcements using all the Energon left within the dormant Autobots, including him.

He would've been woken up at the Energon Turbine that Ratchet, Sparky and the half-restored Wheeljack made at Farmingham Dam and was delivered to it during a Decepticon attack. Unfortunately, Starscream fired at the Energon Turbine, severely damaging it just as he was being restored. After the Autobots reclaimed the Ark, his body was most placed somewhere until he could be revived.

With Arcee and Beachcomber out looking for Ultra Magnus, Wheeljack knew that it was time for reinforcements, hoping that the restored Energon Turbine would be able to create enough Energon to restore Trailbreaker. Unfortunately, his reactivation was interrupted once more, but this time, by Astrotrain, with Starscream and all of the Combaticons in tow.
