- Big Bear was previously the name for a character in the Pravda Patrol. That character became Horrorshow when the Pravda Patrol was redesigned as the Oktober Guard.[1]
- In the DiC animated series episode "Chunnel", Big Bear is seen playing chess; a particular favorite pastime of fellow Oktober Guard member Red Star.
