- Issue #25 of the original Marvel G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero comics in 1984 was the introduction of Zartan in the comics. So since the Hasbro action figure was a deluxe figure that came with the Chameleon, we meet Zartan in the comic riding the skier.
- In issue #28 the Joes and Cobra have been going back and forth in a swamp. And while Mutt, Junkyard, Torpedo and Tripwire manage to escape to a Freighter, Zartan, Buzzer, Ripper and Torch are riding Chameleon swamp skiers to a swamp shack.
Devil's Due[]
- Zartan rides the Chameleon through a swamp on the cover of the 2001 comic G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #3. Inside the issue Zartan and Zanya are on the run and ride the Chameleon together, while Buzzer and Thrasher are in the Thunder Machine trying to outrun Wild Bill.

- The Chameleon appears in G.I. Joe RAH #306. Zartan is riding the skimmer through a swamp, being chased by a heat-seeking missile. The Chameleon is destroyed by the missile. This scene is teased on the last page of G.I. Joe RAH #305.
