G.I. Joe Cobra

"What's with Airborne? Shellshock?"

--Breaker after Airborne suddenly starts holding his head and having visions of Sheik Ali being kidnapped by Cobra.

--Destro's reaction after Cobra Commander falls over the edge of a cliff following a Joe attack; we can't help but laugh at Destro's deadpan delivery, showing his utter disregard for the Commander.

"Your ingenious device almost killed me!"
"Your incredible stupidity almost killed you!"

-- Destro pointing out to Cobra Commander that he had warned him not to get too close to the edge, since he would open himself to counterattack from the Joe hang-gliders.

Animation and technical errors

  • While sitting in the Dragonfly, Scarlett's gloves are completely white.
  • Wild Bill's Dragonfly is missing its rotors in one shot.
  • Scarlett, Gung-Ho and Wild Bill climb to the top of the Cobra stronghold to rescue Sheik Ali; an animation glitch shows Scarlett, Gung-Ho and Roadblock confronting Cobra Commander and Destro.

Continuity errors

  • The Cobra troops chasing Ace, Roadblock and Gung-Ho with C.L.A.W.s have an obvious tactical advantage since they hold the high ground on the trio. So of course they stupidly swoop in on them instead, allowing the three Joes to easily defeat them.
  • Where did all that debris come from that the Joes use against the crab robot? It just sort of appears as they need it.
  • Why would Wild Weasel destroy APC's and other ground equipment and leave four Skystrikers unharmed?
  • During the second assault on the Cobra stronghold, Destro's sonic weapon shakes a LARGE number of bolts and panels off of the Skystrikers, yet they are able to bank, turn and fly away from the attack with no problems.
  • Destro chides Cobra Commander for attacking the Joe hang-gliders with the sonic weapon, since "they have no mechanisms to shake apart", yet the sonic waves produced by the machine should at least scramble the pilots flying the gliders.
  • At the end of the episode, Sheik Ali is served Texas hot links. This dish does not fall within Muslim dietary regulations

Miscellaneous trivia

  • "Operation Mind Menace" established that Airborne and his brother had some sort of psychic link to each other. This episode shows that Airborne's clairvoyancy extends to those outside of his family, as he senses when Sheik Ali is in danger after being kidnapped by Cobra.

Real world references

  • The oil rich nation that produces "one third of the free world's oil" is likely an unnamed Saudi Arabia.
