Copperhead was a Cobra Trooper who was part of Cobra Commander's reinforced regiment deployed to Afghanistan to recover a downed Russian spycraft. Once Cobra Commander had secured the spycraft, he ordered Copperhead and Rattler to remain behind and execute both the G.I. Joe squad and the Oktober Guard. As he and Rattler prepared to shoot the prisoners, they were both killed by Clutch who used a remote control to activate the V.A.M.P.'s weapons.
