Desert Scorpions are Cobra characters from the A Real American Hero series.

Controlling unruly Cobra troopers have always been a problem. A solution for this was to instill fear upon them by assigning them to the ranks of Toxo-Vipers. However, somebody in the Cobra hierarchy realized that it wouldn't make sense to lose some of their best recruits to defective protection suits built by the lowest bidder. A solution was found by creating an infantry unit to be based in one of the few environments that few soldiers want to specialize in, let alone live in. That one environment? The desert.

As Desert Scorpions, these troopers must learn to work together as a team if they are to survive the rigors of their sandy surroundings. If a Desert Scorpion manages to get through one year with a spotless record, he can be reassigned back to the ranks he originally came from. Else, it's straight to the Leaky Suit Brigade for him. It's not going to be easy. Desert Scorpions may be one of the most cohesive units in the field. But at the end of the day, when it's time to be in the barracks, each man is still the cutthroat he is, plotting and backstabbing his way back to the limited reinstatement slots waiting at the end of one year.

Trivia[]

  • The European version of the Desert Scorpion figure was slightly different from the U.S. version. While the figure itself is identical, it came with Mercer's (1991 version) backpack, missile launcher, and missile. The card art is also different to reflect the inclusion of the missile launcher. The plastic scorpion was still included.
