Cobra steals an ancient formula for a love potion. Flint and Lady Jaye come up with their own plan for an intercept.

Plot[]

EauDeCobra2

Hopeful ladies at the party on Socrates Aertes's yacht.

Firefly attacks a polar research station and steals a plant that, despite the efforts of Snow Job and Frostbite, is an ingredient listed on a stolen Egyptian tablet from the British Museum. The tablet allows Cobra to create a love potion, which according to Lady Jaye's translation and a tip from Short-Fuze, is most likely to be used on a Greek shipping tycoon, allowing Cobra to control the world's largest shipping route. Flint and Lady Jaye infiltrate Socrates Aertes' yacht, and try to stop the Baroness from seducing him. Instead she ends up seducing Flint to get him to turn on Lady Jaye, who is, unintentionally, save by Destro, who boarded the yacht against orders. Eventually, the perfume is knocked overboard, and both Joe and Cobra divers race after it, only for all of them to watch it be stolen by a crab, which drags it into it's burrow. In the end, the only human who comes out ahead is Destro, who is highly amused at the fitting end of such a silly scheme of Cobra Commander's.

Notes[]

Animation and Technical Errors[]

  • Flint and Lady Jaye assault the underground Cobra dock via the cave entrance, after making it inside and the camera switches to Flint returning fire, the background behind him is of the outside sky.
  • The design of Baroness' dress changes while she's dancing with Flint; as she sprays Flint's face with Eau de Cobra she is wearing a dress with straps.
  • Similarly, as Destro and Flint fight, the waiter's jacket goes from red with black lapels (before Socrates enters the scene), to white with black lapels, to all white when he turns to address Socrates, to red with black lapels when he summons security, all in the span of about 15 seconds.
  • When talking with Cobra Commander on the spy boat, Destro's eyes switch from his canonical black with yellow pupils to yellow with black pupils when exclaiming "do not try to stop me".

Continuity Errors[]

  • At the Arctic research station, one of the scientists trips an alarm by stepping on a button in the middle of the floor. Odd placing for an emergency alarm, since it would be too easily tripped by accident.
  • Most police officers in the United Kingdom do not carry firearms. The only reason why museum guards would carry firearms is because attacks from COBRA have increased the need for armed security.

Miscellaneous Trivia[]

ARAH 38 Sunbathe

What is it Breaker? I'm about to lead an important mission for lotion in a basket.

  • Scarlett and Lady Jaye sunbathe atop headquarters.
  • Frostbite's only speaking role in the entire series.
  • Destro's jealousy undermines the plan.
  • One of the few times Destro is seen using his toy-accurate wrist "rockets" on his right arm; in the scene where Cobra Commander chastises Destro for jeopardizing the mission, Destro threatens to sink the Commander's ship and fires a short blast from a retractable laser on his right bracer.
  • The title literally translates to "water of Cobra". It is a play on words with "eau de toilette", "eau de parfum", and "eau de cologne", all terms for types of fragrances.
  • Final appearance of the M.A.N.T.A.
  • Lady Jaye appears to be fluent in ancient Egyptian, sight-reading the hieroglyphs off the tablet with amazing ease. See also The Gods Below.
  • A Dragonfly was mentioned in this episode but wasn't shown.

Real World References[]

  • The shipping tycoon is a reference to Aristotle Onassis.
