Vehicle profile[]

The Cobra Flight Pod, or "Trubble Bubble" is a small, one-person assault craft. It weighs 720 lbs, has a maximum speed of 80 mph, and a maximum range of 120 miles. The Flight Pod was armed with 2 antitank missiles, a chin mounted cannon and self-propelled aerial mine that required manned deployment.

Cobra Flight Pods can be used independently for scouting or "drone" missions or in groups as part of a swarm attack. Their speed and versatility lend to their strength as defense and support in strike missions or for guarding objective targets. They have been found to be particularly vulnerable to anti-aircraft installations but have been known to easily evade single-fire mobile weapons.

Toys[]

Toy editions[]

The Flight Pod was originally released in 1985. Though shown to be a pale blue in most early shots in the television series, the "Trouble Bubble" toy was actually a faint grey color.  Like most toys of the era it required some assembly, with the "bubble" canopy being hinged at the back.  It was not released with a figure.

Re-uses/re-makes[]

A redeco of the Flight Pod was released in 1997 and came packaged with a Cobra Viper.

Notes[]

  • The writers' guide for the Sunbow series stated that Cobra characters would refer to this vehicle as a flight pod, reserving the description "Trubble Bubble" for use by G.I. Joe members.[1]
  • The Flight Pod made its first Sunbow appearance in the 1984 miniseries The Revenge of Cobra, but was not released as a toy until 1985.
