The battle to free the Emirate of Benzheen continues. The Joes are involved in another skirmish and a betrayal costs them more lives.
Detailed summary
Previous Agreement
Recon Team Bravo, consisting of Stalker, Sneak-Peek, Dusty, Ambush, and Recoil, pinned down behind parked cars by Cobra forces outside a Porsche dealership in Talib Square. To flank the Joes, a Frag-Viper and an Alley Viper are ordered to break off and set up a crossfire position.
Stalker calls for relief, but Hawk, the leader, informs him that there is no support until the main forces break through. The Emir of Benzheen watches the battle map and gets upset when he learns that Battle-Force 2000 is advancing towards his oil storage area.
Meanwhile, Deep Recon Team, consisting of Roadblock, Tunnel Rat, and Muskrat, disengages from a Cobra ambush and proceeds towards Recon Team Bravo's position. Tunnel Rat finds a ladder leading up to a trap door in a dead-end in the sewer system. At the same time, the Alley Viper and Frag-Viper find a choice spot occupied by a woman and her young son, and lure the Joes out into the open.
Sneak-Peek runs out to save the kid, but a Range Viper mows him down, and the mother frees herself and escapes with her son. Stalker informs Dusty that they are moving out, but Dusty refuses to leave Sneak-Peek behind.
The Emir calls Cobra Commander and requests that he does not attack Battle-Force 2000 amidst the oil tanks, but Cobra Commander forces the Emir to make a deal by offering $500 million. The resulting explosions from the oil storage tanks are seen and heard from Recon Team Bravo's position, and Dusty realizes that they are on their own.
Stalker decides to rush the Cobras and collect some payback before cashing in their chips, and as Recon Team Bravo rushes, Recoil and Ambush are hit. Stalker orders Dusty to leave Sneak-Peek behind and keep moving, but Dusty disobeys and carries Sneak-Peek's body. At the same time, Deep Recon Team breaks through a door behind the Cobra forces and begins to mow them down.
Recon Team Bravo, Deep Recon Team, and Dodger make their way back to the command post, and Stretcher checks Sneak-Peek and realizes that he had been dead for hours. Dusty replies that he promised to bring him back if anything happened to him.

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Since Sneak Peek was loosely based on a real person, it's possible his parents' names are Stephen and Tabitha.
- ↑ It would later be revealed in G.I. Joe #168 that Sneak Peek's death had been faked, for some unknown reason.
- ↑ Ambush and Recoil are shot, but do not die. They can be seen walking to camp at the end of the issue.
- ↑ George Bailey can be seen standing on the bridge in the snow, contemplating his life.
