Chuckles is the only man alive to have successfully infiltrated Cobra... and he's M.I.A. Has he been killed? Defected? Gone rogue to fight a one-man war against the enemy? None of these alternatives are acceptable to General Hawk. He wants Chuckles back with G.I. Joe, so he's sending a new Joe to retrieve him. But what she finds may be worse than anyone could have imagined... Also, get a deeper look inside Cobra than ever before,as Tomax, Xamot, and Erika continue to feel the effects of the previous miniseries, and several Cobra operatives are introduced for the first time in an IDW book!

—The description as originally solicited by IDW Publishing.

Detailed summary

Previously, Chuckles was given the assignment of infiltrating Cobra. He did terrible things, all just to infiltrate the organization. Now, he has fallen off the grid and is unable to be reached.

Hawk recruits a woman for a very special mission to go undercover and retrieve Chuckles from his deep cover work. Chuckles is now the only source of valuable intel on Cobra and he must be brought back. The woman looks at the dossier and is amused at the code name she is given. He tells her he chose her specifically because of her assassin skills and that she has “the right look”.

At a posh mansion, Erika Le Tene reports for her work there. She is called for help to get Croc Master to attend the arrangement banquet as the last adjunct has met an untimely fate. She goes down to the cellars and convinces Croc Master that his pet Siamese crocodiles will be taken care of while he attends the banquet. After that moment, she is hiding in the lavatory shaking. The past year has left a change in her. Where previously she was able to tolerate the evil doings of Cobra, now she faces an uncertain future.

Elsewhere, in a gulag. An assassin kills several guards and reaches the cell she is looking for. The man in the cell grabs her and asks what she is doing. She tells him she is here to rescue him. She breaks free from his grip. Her mask becomes undone. The prisoner is actually Chuckles and he calls her “Jinx”.
