A Real American Hero Comics Continuity[]
Marvel Comics continuity[]
There was never any acknowledgement in the plot of extra, unnamed Joes in the comic. Certainly not an army of them like in the cartoon. Nevertheless, generic-looking troopers in green uniforms that cannot be identified with any named G.I. Joe made infrequent appearances as background characters. This may be an issue with the artwork more than anything else.
Several Greenshirts supported Stalker and Breaker during a raid on Cobra safehouse in Nebraska.[1][2][3]
Devil's Due continuation[]
Action Force (British) Comics continuity[]
Greenshirts were part of a team that was tricked into attacking an oil rig belonging to Destro, but was subsequently freed by Quick Kick.[4] They later fought in the battle to defend Action Force's London base when Cobra attacked to free Destro.[5]
Animated Continuity[]
Sunbow Animated Series[]
Greenshirts were present at G.I. Joe headquarters after the Joes' mission to the Ring of Fire and and took part in the uphill battle to storm the Cobra Temple in the mountains.[6]

Trivia[]
- The Greenshirts are named after the Redshirts in Star Trek. A red shirt was the uniform of security officers who had minor or non-speaking roles in landing parties and usually got killed to establish the threat level. Consequently the term "Redshirt" has become a cultural term for expendable background characters.
