Herb Trimpe

Herbert Trimpe is a comic book artist and occasional writer and plotter. He is, perhaps, the one artist who has had the most significant amount of contributions to G.I. Joe comics.

Early works

Much of Trimpe's work is at Marvel Comics. The work for which he is best known for is The Incredible Hulk comic series. He worked on that title for nearly seven years. His rendition of Wolverine is the first one to see print. He also had lengthy runs on The Defenders and Marvel Team-Up. He also worked on licensed properties such as Godzilla, Indiana Jones and fellow Hasbro license, Transformers.

Work in G.I. Joe

Trimpe was responsible for the art in the early issues of the G.I. Joe comic. He also plotted or co-plotted several of the issues he worked on and is co-creator of the Oktober Guard. He worked on nearly the entire run of G.I. Joe: Special Missions. He did all the profile pages on the G.I. Joe: Order of Battle series and the art on the crossover, G.I. Joe and the Transformers. He was approached by Devil's Due Publishing in providing the cover to the final issue of G.I. Joe: America's Elite.

Current work

Trimpe has participated in an upcoming documentary film called Adventures Into Digital Comics. The film discusses, among other things, the crash of the comic book industry in the 90s and the emergence of webcomics.
