It is not usual that a G.I. Joe's code name is made fun of but it's not something that bothers Ice Cream Soldier. The enemy thinks it's an entire joke until he actually shows up in their doorstep and brandishes his combo weapon of flamethrower and rocket launcher and change their perception of him. It's not only the enemy who makes fun of his code name but it's something he doesn't mind as it lets everyone underestimate him. And then he gets to show them what he can really do.
A Real American Hero comics continuity - Devil's Due
- The Ice Cream Soldier has become the poster-boy of the '90s G.I. Joe toy line by fans. The silly name, dumb-down description, and bright color scheme highlights the general style of the toy line at that time, and reminds the fans of an era most would rather forget.
- In 2002, this figure's mold would be used to to make the Shock Viper – which is also a flamethrower specialist, but are a part of Cobra. Even though it was a simple repaint, the Shock Viper was more well-received by fans.
