Image Comics is an American comic book publisher; Devil's Due was an imprint of the company prior to splitting off in 2002. Image published the first twenty-five issues of the revived G.I. Joe comics before Devil's Due separated into its own entity as an independent publishing company.
In June 2023, the company's imprint, Skybound Entertainment, received the license to publish the G.I. Joe comic franchise. Publishing began in November of that year, with A Real American Hero #301, penned by continuing (and original) writer, Larry Hama. Additional titles Duke and Cobra Commander will follow in December 2023 and January 2024, respectively.[1]
G.I. Joe series[]
Devil's Due continuity (2001-2003)[]
- G.I. Joe - Note: while published by Image, this series is generally regarded as the Devil's Due continuity, as DDP (an imprint of Image at the time) had produced each issue and then published every issue from #26 on, once it broke away from Image and formed as an independent company. Also, fans (and Joepedia) consider this an alternate A Real American Hero universe, as it has direct ties to Marvel's thirteen year run of the same title, despite not carrying the name on the masthead page and re-starting the issue numbers. It always displayed that sub-title on the cover, however.
Skybound's continuity (2023-present)[]
As with Devil Due's continuity (above), Image again published G.I. Joe under an imprint, this time Skybound Entertainment, which acquired the license from Hasbro in mid-2023.
