Generation 1
Nitro-Viper A Real American Hero (1993)

Nitro-Viper was the action figure bundled with the Detonator vehicle for 1993's vehicle lineup. The figure's entire mold was taken from the Track-Viper.

Appearance: orange helmet with silver face shield; black shirt with orange armor on chest and arms; black gloves; orange pants; silver kneepads and boots

Accessories: black "Track-Viper" pistol. page/Filecard

  • The Nitro-Viper was the only G.I. Joe action figure to not include a filecard. In 1994, avid Joe toy collector, Michael Livanos created a filecard for Nitro-Viper. While it was not formally declared as the official filecard information, the content was sanctioned by Hasbro and used for the character in the G.I. Joe convention special issue of Action Figure News & Toy Review:
Cobra Detonators are the new elite tanks of the COBRA armed forces. They feature the latest in laser targeting, computerized global positioning, and smart missile technology, conceived in Destro's armaments factories. The competition among Track-Vipers to become operators of the Detonator is intense. Prospective Nitro-Vipers are required to exhibit their ruthlessness by blowing up video game arcades and amusement parks. Nitro-Vipers enjoy blowing things up so much that other Cobra Troopers and Vipers give them a wide berth.
