It has been said that the sound of machine gun fire is music to '''Rock 'n Roll's''' ears. Back when in his teenage years in Malibu, he was a surfer, pro weight lifter. He played electric guitar in a local rock band with a particular affinity for British heavy metal. Accustomed to the weight and loud noises of machine firearms, being the [[Joe Team]]'s machine gunner was a natural for him. He graduated top of class in Advanced Infantry Training School.

  • A Real American Hero (1982)
Rock 'n Roll was part of the original wave of A Real American Hero toys. The first Rock 'n Roll action figure had straight arms. The following year, Hasbro perfected the Swivel Arm Battle Grip technology and implemented it to all the original characters.

  • A Real American Hero (1989)
Rock 'n Roll is renamed as Rock & Roll but is still referred to as Rock 'n Roll in the file card. His function has been moved from mere machine gunner to gatling gunner.

  • Super Sonic Fighters (1991)
The 1989 mold is used for the Super Sonic Fighters version. Rock 'n Roll came with a machine gun, a rocket launcher and a backpack that emits four different battle sounds. This particular figure represents the only time Rock 'n Roll receives a major rank promotion as a Sergeant Major (E-9).

  • Star Brigade (Armor Tech 1993)
Rock 'n Roll becomes a member of the Armor Tech division of Star Brigade. Like the other Armor Tech action figures, Rock 'n Roll had limited articulation. His file card indicates his rank back at E-6.

  • Stars and Stripes Forever (1997)
The Stars and Stripes Forever set included almost all the original G.I. Joe Team members. The pack was a way of commemorating the 15th anniversary of the A Real American Hero series. The set used the original 1982 molds for every character save for Breaker and Rock 'n Roll. Rock 'n Roll was made using parts from other characters. It is speculated that the original 1982 mold for Rock 'n Roll was damaged and could not be used for the set.

  • G.I. Joe Headquarters set (2001)
Toys "Я" Us released an exclusive G.I. Joe Headquarters set that included Flint. However, some sets have erroneously identified the character as Rock 'n Roll and even included his file card instead of Flint's.

  • Comic Pack (2005)
One of the Comic Packs for 2005 included a set that has Rock 'n Roll, Flash, Short-Fuze and a copy of G.I. Joe #8. The design for Rock 'n Roll's action figure is meant to be reminiscent of his appearance in that comic. The pack identifies him as Craig "Rock 'n Roll" McConnel.

  • Tanks for the Memories (2007)
The 2007 International G.I. Joe Convention released an exclusive "Tanks for the Memories" set that included Craig "Rock 'n Roll" McConnel. Other characters in the set include Sparks, Sgt. Flash, Zap, G.I. Joe Doc, Lance "Clutch" Steinberg, Lt. Clay Moore, a Cobra Officer and six Cobra Troopers.

  • A Real American Hero 25th Anniversary (2008)
For the 25th Anniversary figure, Rock 'n Roll comes back in single carded form but his name is altered to Ssgt. Rock 'n Roll. Like other figures in the 25th Anniversary line, Rock 'n Roll sports the new articulation design.
