It has been said that the sound of machine gun fire is music to Rock 'n Roll's ears. Back when in his teenage years in Malibu, he was a surfer, pro weight lifter. He played bass guitar in a local rock band with a particular affinity for British heavy metal. Accustomed to loud, amplified noises, being the Joe Team's machine gunner was a natural for him. He graduated top of class in Advanced Infantry Training School.

Rock 'n Roll is one of the easiest people to get along with. He brings a sense of camaraderie and genuinely cares for his teammates. While he can be a raging bull, he is definitely someone you want on your side.

Stars and Stripes Forever (1997)
The Stars and Stripes Forever set included almost all the original G.I. Joe Team members. The pack was a way of commemorating the 15th anniversary of the A Real American Hero series. The set used the original 1982 molds for every character save for Breaker and Rock 'n Roll. Rock 'n Roll was made using parts from other characters. It is speculated that the original 1982 mold for Rock 'n Roll was damaged and could not be used for the set.

Trivia

  • Only the 1989 version of the character was named "Rock & Roll," with an ampersand; all others have been named "Rock 'n Roll."
  • In addition to the obvious musical connection, "rock and roll" is military slang for the full-auto setting on a weapon.
  • The 1992 Sonic Fighters version was originally planned to come with the 1989 accessories, and his prototype filecard reflected that.
