Cobra purchases a dude ranch through one of its dummy corporations, intending to control a nearby solar power station. G.I. Joe travels to the ranch to flush out the Cobras.

Plot[]

At a COBRA base in a corn field, Alpine, Bazooka, Breaker, and Snake-Eyes breaks in and reaches the main computer where their recent transaction with dummy companies are stored. When they got the data, they were eventually attacked by COBRA and the Joes take action. They gives the data to a computer technician which show that COBRA bought a dude ranch in Texas which Flint sends Wild Bill, Lady Jaye, Alpine, and Bazooka there undercover much to Wild Bill's excitement. As the Joes driving through Texas, they saw microwave antennas of a solar energy farm. They soon arrive at the ranch where they were introduced by Joads while going undercover by the names of the Austin's.

The Joads' daughter Mary Belle decides to take Wild Bill on a private tour around the ranch which Wild Bill agrees to. Lady Jaye heads behind a watertower to contact Flint through a speaker on her belt. However what she didn't know was that she was being watched by Cobra Commander wants to not cause suspicion for 18 hours. Later the Joes met the Ranch Hands who came to give them a full day. They go to saddle up horses while Bazooka and Alpine wait, however both Joes were soon attacked by an angry bull who breaks through the fence.

Bazooka saves Alpine from the bull by climbing on it's back and holding it by the horns and went to safety where they saw that the Ranch Hands caused it. One of the other Ranch Hands brings Lady Jaye an educated horse. She climbs on the horse, but the Ranch Hand puts a burweed seed into the horse which causes the horse to go crazy causing Lady Jayne to land into a trough and discovers the bur which eventually made her realize that the Joes weren't wanted at the ranch. Meanwhile Wild Bill and Mary Belle rides around the ranch until they saw a cattle stampede heading towards the Solar Farm's block HAP's. Wild Bill eventually leads the herd away from the farm causing it to be dusty.

One of the Ranch Hands who is revealed to Zartan sneaks into the Block HAP's and steals and control chip from there. After Wild Bill leads the stampeding cattle away Mary Belle gives him a kiss much to his surprise. Later that night while Wild Bill peforms a country hoedown, Lady Jaye notices both Ma and Pa Joads leaving the party decides to follow them while Bazooka and Alpine follows the Ranch Hands. While they were looking for them, Bazooka and Alpine were confronted by Zartan and the Dreadnoks. Lady Jaye follows the Joads into the barn where she saw a light below it leading her to a hidden COBRA control center.

She saw one of their technicians coming down the ramp and takes her place before getting closer to heard Cobra Commander's plan for the control chip as he demonstrates to Destro on a model city. Soon Lady Jaye's cover is blown as Cobra Commander sprays a fire extinguisher leaving Wild Bill the only Joe uncaptured. Back at the ranch, Wild Bill enjoys looking at the night sky with Mary Belle. However what he didn't know was that Mary Belle was revealed to be the Baroness who removes her disguise and arms herself with a gun.

Notes[]

Animation and Technical Errors[]

  • While in the M.O.B.A.T., Flint is wearing a green shirt. It changes back to black in subsequent scenes.
  • Destro's gauntlets are animated with thumbnails as he closely examines the control chip.
  • When the Dreadnoks burst from the barn, they are followed by Destro and Baroness, who are driving an A.W.E. Striker. The A.W.E. Striker is changed to a Stinger thereafter.
  • At the end of the episode, Wild Bill climbs up to the top of Joe HQ while wearing his civilian clothing. In the next shot he is wearing his blue and orange fatigues.

Continuity Errors[]

  • When they approach the alleged Cobra ranch, Lady Jaye explains that the big antenna dishes they are passing are a solar power station. Then she states that if they fell into the wrong hands the antennas could be used to fry a city. Cobra could target the station instead of the dude ranch.

Quotes[]

"Great. That was the only door, shell-brain."
"I'll make another."
[blasts out wall]
"Door."
--Alpine and Bazooka discussing how to escape from the Cobra installation.

"That Texas tease ... "Call me Mary Belle"... Jezebel's more like it"
-- Lady Jaye

"You know, I think those bums set us up!"
-- Alpine, after he and Bazooka are attacked by a bull and he spots the ranch-hands (actually the Dreadnoks in disguise) ride away laughing their heads off.

Miscellaneous Trivia[]
